Friends of Lindi is a small UK based charity (Registered Charity No.1176494), set up in 2008 to finance educational sponsorship of children in Lindi, South East Tanzania.
Our focus is now to fund other projects to help alleviate poverty and to enhance the lives of children and people in need in Lindi.
We are driven and supported by volunteers and 98% of all donations go directly to our projects in Lindi. We pride ourselves on having personal contact with all those we assist.
Our projects
Children’s Street Libraries
For some years now we have set up several street libraries to allow children access to books in Kiswahili, following an initial grant from the Tanzanian Development Trust.
Helping individuals in need
We are a small charity and can only a help small number of people. 98% of all donations received go directly to the people we try and help.
Sponsor a wheelchair
The number of disabled children in Lindi is proportionately much higher than we see in the UK.
Vocational Education
An effective way to provide long term support to young people in Lindi, is to sponsor vocational education for one or two years.
Working with other organisations in Tanzania
We are committed to working with other organisations with similar goals to ourselves.
